Rocky’s glamorous radio career started in January 1990, doing weekend shifts and sales for the rebel station on the hill while in college. After four major changes, he finally graduated from UAF with a degree in Journalism, focusing on broadcast management. Rocky used to refer to this as the “best 10 years of his life”. That was before he had two incredible sons, Ryder and AJ, which has obviously led to even better years and crazy, irreplaceable memories. He proudly claims to be the only dad who’s sons have each shut down a radio station, roughly seven years apart. Both boys have been involved in radio at an early age, and AJ is pretty much a regular guest on the show, in particular with Bigfoot sightings and the Rocky Horror Radio Show every Halloween.
A diehard Packer fan, Rocky enjoys watching football with his sons, as well as reading John Grisham, James Patterson and Dean Koontz novels, camping and fishing, driving his convertible Mustang . . . and goofing off. He loves to eat, and has grown very fond of grilling outside, no matter what the temperature is.
Rocky plans to do radio until he passes on from this world, which he hopes will be a very, very long time from now. Or he’ll get fired and be forced to get a real job. Whichever way it works out, Rocky is humbled to have had such a long radio career.
Along with being a UAF alum, Rocky also graduated from Ben Eielson High School.
