Selena Gomez: 5 Things She Shared Before Leaving Social Media

Selena Gomez announced she's going offline, once again.

On Monday (September 24), the songstress shared a delightful, smiling image of herself on Instagram, but not without breaking the news that she would be unplugging from all things social media.

However, it's not unlike the "Back to You" star to ditch social platforms. As she explained in Elle's upcoming October issue, those apps aren't "real" to her.

For the time being, Gomez wants to prioritize real life over digital reality, which means more time "making a conscious effort … to be with my friends" and less energy spent on giving trolls the time of day.

Before bowing out, Gomez opened up to her Selenators in a near-hour-long Instagram Live Q&A this weekend to discuss where's she's at in her life right now — from mental health struggles to the inspiration behind her long-awaited album.

Check out some key admissions the pop star made in her intimate send-off, below:

4. She Doesn't Care About Her Instagram Popularity

As aforementioned, the "Wolves" artist can't fathom why she's the most-followed person on the platform.

"I don't even have the d**n app on my phone, she said, adding her follower count is "just a number and it's insane that people are so obsessed with a number. It's like chill out. Who gives a f**k?"

5. Her New Album Is Almost Here!

Selena says her next full-length is coming soon, you guys — but patience is a virtue. "I don't feel like I need to release anything that isn't complete," she said, adding, "The next album that comes out for me is like literally defining me as a woman."

(Fun fact: her new jam "Taki Taki" with Cardi B, Ozunaand DJ Snake drops this Friday!)
