To celebrate today’s #internationalwomensday I’ll be curating @natgeo’s Instagram feed, selecting and sharing powerful images taken by National Geographic’s emerging female photographers around the world. Women photographers are often under-represented and under-celebrated, so I’m thrilled to mark this day by profiling the talented female story-tellers and image-makers that are working hard to build empathy across borders x #iwd2018 #timesup

Got in a quick workout this morning before my long trip home to the states. I’m not sure what day i’m on since starting my thirty day “get my sht together” plan started, but i’m proud of myself for sticking with the commitment whether motivation is present or not. Did a thirty minute multi-level bike ride + that moment my hand comes off of the handle, my thigh is on fire! Ill be taking stretch breaks in flight to ensure I can walk tomorrow. . . Im so thankful for all of your messages. I am still going through them from when I first opened up a few weeks ago. I check a few each day💛 Im humbled to open up about something that many people feel they have to/need to keep a secret. It was personally destroying me. xo

Before the new year begins, let’s take some time to reflect on the one we’re leaving behind. This week, I’m sharing a few highlights from 2016. One of my favorite moments was attending the opening of the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture (@NMAAHC). It’s an enormously important museum that everyone should see—and my time there was made even more special by the great company of Justice Sotomayor and @oprah!

#Repost @selfmagazine ・・・ Happy #WorldBalletDay! “I feel like I'm representing not just the little brown girls but all African-American dancers who came before me who were never promoted because of the color of their skin,” Misty Copeland (@mistyonpointe) told SELF for her December 2016 cover story. “Seeing someone who looks like you could change your path."
