Celebrate the Queen of Comedy today.

Full disclosure...Lucille Ball is one of my idols.  'I Love Lucy' premiered on October 15, 1951. The show was a huge hit and it changed the way we watch television. It was the first show to use multiple cameras and the first show to have a multiethnic marriage. The friendship between Lucy and Ethel was the first realistic representation of female friendships. And by the way, Lucille Ball was the first woman to run her own production company.

And besides that, the show was pretty hilarious. Yeah, it's dated sometimes. And the 'Ricky is the man of the house' trope is really cringey. But the physical comedy is pure gold. Some people will cite the Vitameatavegamin scene as the funniest. Others, the chocolate assembly line but for me, Lucy going into labor cracks me up every time.  It's just over 4 minutes long but worth it if you've never seen and if you have, you know what I'm talking about.

Lucy once said 'I'm not funny. What I am is brave.'

Queen.
