Selena Gomez Makes Instagram Return With Reflective Note

Much like one of her pop peers, Selena Gomez is making a slow and steady return to social media and Monday afternoon (January 14) saw the pop titan share a heartfelt message with her fans.

"It's been awhile since you have heard from me, but I wanted to wish everyone a happy new year and to thank you for your love and support," the 26-year-old kicked off the post, which included black and white photos of the star. "Last year was definitely a year of self-reflection, challenges and growth. It’s always those challenges which show you who you are and what you are capable of overcoming." Gomez went on to admit that part of her 2019 intention is embracing the kind of woman she's becoming. "Trust me, it’s not easy, but I am proud of the person I am becoming and look forward to the year ahead. Love you all," she concluded.

Back in September, Gomez announced that she was taking another break from social media, alluding to all the "negative comments" as one of the reasons for her departure from platforms.

Just last week, Gomez was spotted in Taylor Swift's recent Instagram post, where the two celebrated a girls' night alongside new friend, Cazzie David. "20wineteen," the singer captioned the trio's selfie, which sees her holding a glass of white wine mid-laugh. It marked a new sighting from Gomez since leaving a mental health facility a few weeks ago. She reportedly checked into the hospital to recover from anxiety and panic attacks brought on by her physical struggles stemming from lupus and her kidney transplant.
