Selena Gomez is setting the record straight about her past, zooming in on a time (long before her relationship with beau Benny Blanco) where her mental health was not the greatest.
The Only Murders in the Building standout recently commented on a TikTok video, shared by a fan account on June 3, that claimed she wouldn't have dated Blanco when she was in her "IT GIRL era."
The video in questions depicts a twenty-something Gomez strutting the streets in a black, silk ensemble, stopping for photos with fans and looking fabulous (just as she does now).
"I know and so do you that at the time she would never have gotten engaged to Benny, she was in her IT GIRL era..." the speculative caption reads. Gomez was sure to comment on the bold assumption, revealing that her mental health was not the greatest during her alleged "IT GIRL era."
"Kind of makes me laugh because I was so depressed back then lol."
The "Love You Like A Love Song" star has expressed true love for Blanco on multiple occasions, reporting she's the happiest she's ever been in a relationship. Gomez confirmed the pair's blossoming relationship in December 2023, referring to the producer as "my absolute everything in my heart," quipping, "Why has he been the best thing that's ever happened to me?"
Despite online speculation from haters, Gomez and Blanco remain very secure in their relationship and continue to publicly express bliss as their love story develops beautifully.
