Kristen Hogan, a 33-year-old mother from Ridgefield, Connecticut, is set to appear in court on Thursday (October 9) after being charged with two counts of attempted murder. She allegedly attempted to poison a man, with whom she shares a child, by putting antifreeze in his wine. Hogan was arrested last Friday after admitting to pouring ethylene glycol, a toxic chemical found in antifreeze, into the wine bottle, according to an affidavit obtained by ABC News.

The incident came to light when the 34-year-old victim was hospitalized in early August with symptoms initially thought to be a stroke. However, doctors later identified the symptoms as ethylene glycol poisoning. The victim told police he consumed the wine on August 10, days after a family dinner where the wine was first opened. He later fell critically ill and was admitted to the ICU for treatment, including dialysis.

Authorities found evidence on Hogan's phone showing she had researched lethal chemicals, including searches for "how much monoethylene glycol would kill you." Hogan confessed to the act, claiming she did not intend to kill but only wanted to make the victim sick as retaliation for alleged mental abuse.

The victim suspects Hogan's motive was to gain full ownership of his home and custody of their child. Hogan's lawyer, Mark Sherman, stated that it is premature to comment on specifics but emphasized that the charges are inconsistent with Hogan's reputation as a loving mother. Hogan is being held on a $1 million bond and will face a judge at her upcoming court appearance.
