If you grew up in the 90s and loved Alternative Rock, then you most definitely were a fan of No Doubt and Sugar Ray. Well, backstage at this year's iHeartRadio ALTer EGO presented by Capital One, the two bands had a small reunion on the red carpet, and it will make your 90s heart explode.
In an incredibly nostalgic backstage moment, Sugar Ray's Mark McGrath spotted No Doubt's Adrian Young and Tony Kanal, and ran up to them to say hello. McGrath shared of the run-in, "I feel like this is great for someone like me who's been fortunate enough to be in the industry a long time, you see old friends. There's actually No Doubt right there, and arguably, all these later have their biggest thing happening to the band at the Sphere. So, catching up with old friends, old friends at the radio station here ALT 98.7, Booker and Stryker, when I'm at an event like this, I really, really realize how grateful and lucky I am to do what I do. I'm around so many talented people."
No Doubt announced their residency at The Sphere in Las Vegas, which kicks off in May of this year. Gwen Stefani said of the forthcoming show, "The opportunity to create a show Sphere excites me in a new way. The venue is unique and modern and it opens up a whole new visual palette for us to be creative. Doing it with No Doubt feels like going back in time to relive our history, while also creating something new in a way we never could have imagined."
This year's iHeartRadio ALTer EGO hosted a few of the biggest names in Alternative Rock at the Kia Forum, including Green Day, Twenty One Pilots, Cage the Elephant, Sublime, Good Charlotte, Gigi Perez, and Almost Monday, and all hosted by iHeartRadio ALT 98.7's Woody of the nationally syndicated "The Woody Show."
