Erica Gray always dreamed of being a mother, but after a cancer diagnosis and a radical hysterectomy at age 27, she thought she’d never have a baby. But the oncologist who saved her life helped her find a way by introducing her to one of his operating room nurses who became Gray’s surrogate. Kasia Birdwell gave birth to Gray’s son, baby Richard, in March.
